Holistic Water for Horticulture: a Courtauld 2030 Water Roadmap Project

The Courtauld 2030 Water Roadmap supports action to address water risks in our food and drink supply chain. This is especially important regarding consumer appetite for sustainably grown and sourced year-round fresh fruit and vegetables from key sourcing catchments.

The Courtauld Water Roadmap is a world-leading example of a whole-sector commitment to address water challenges in shared landscapes through established sustainable development goals. It calls on food and drink retailers to support and engage with water stewardship initiatives in order to meet a target that 50% of the UK’s fresh food is sourced from areas with sustainable water management by 2030.

This is done by working with organisations such as SERT to work with growers across the South East to reduce water stress to futureproof their business and improve catchment health.

SERT and other regional rivers trusts across the country are working with Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) to deliver the water roadmap. You can find out more about it on their website.
